2022’s Tristan Unold is one of Florida’s most up-and-coming prospects

Tristan Unold is one of the best players from the Ocala, FL area in the Class of 2022.

The 6-foot-6 Unold, who attends Vanguard High School, is a dynamic player that works as a swingman.

Unold has earned plenty of recognition during his career, such as being selected as third-team All-County during his sophomore year.

Unold is humbled by the recognition.

“The recognition of my ability with awards overall just helps me as a player with a confidence boost, and helps show that the work I put in doesn’t go unnoticed,” Unold said.

No matter the opponent, every game Unold is determined to give it his all.

Unold is going all out.

The motor is always at full throttle whenever Unold steps between the lines.

“My mindset at my position is to knock down open shots and drive to shift the defense to help my teammates,” Unold said.

Unold has great passion and energy whenever he’s on the court. Unold tells why he enjoys the game of basketball so much.

“What I love most about playing would be the thrill I get from playing and winning with my team,” Unold said.

Unold has learned many valuable lessons from playing basketball that he applies to his everyday life.

“Playing the game of basketball has taught me about teamwork and collaboration also about the importance of a good work ethic,” Unold said.

Unold shares his favorite memory of playing basketball.

“My favorite memory of playing probably would have to be getting my first in-game dunk last year during high school season and the feeling I got afterwards,” Unold said.

Unold takes his role as one of the leaders on the team very seriously. Unold makes sure he’s a daily positive influence on his peers.

“Being a good teammate can be demonstrated not only through your play on the court but the way you talk to them on and off and the encouragement and the constructive criticism you give,” Unold said. “I tell my teammates which type of pass to make either a lob or bounce pass. That’s probably the best advice I give.”

Unold is appreciative of having amazing male role models that are supportive.

“Learning life lessons and also certain fundamentals from my coaches has really helped me improve as a player,” Unold said. “The best advice my coaches have given me personally has been probably the best place to score and what positioning I should have on the court.”

Unold patterns his play after this rising NBA rookie.

“I look up to Tyler Herro,” Unold said. “As a player, I admire his game and his incredible shot.”

Unold lists math and economics as his favorite subjects in school.

Unold explains his collegiate aspirations.

“I don’t necessarily have a dream college but wherever I fit in the most and what feels like the right place,” Unold said.

Unold is striving for greatness in all that he does.

“My goals on the court would be to play at the next level and off the court to graduate college with a good degree and be successful,” Unold said.
