Jamil Stephens is a Class of 2026 athlete standing out in a major way at the running back position.
Stephens, who has played for Chapel Hill, the Giants, and the KC Outlaws, began football at the age of 6.
Stephens shares why he believes he is different from most athletes.
“My work ethic and leadership skills set me apart from most,” Stephens said. “I’m always working and never complaining as I’m just looking for ways to better my game.”
Stephens has some specific aspirations when it comes to his future.
“My goal for high school is to graduate in the top of my class, and to make it to college,” Stephens said. “I would love to play varsity my freshman year but I’m going to wait until it’s my time.”
Stephens has participated in some prestigious camps during his football career.
“I attended The NexGen regional showcase in Detroit, I attended the ESPN Elite underclassmen event in Florida, and I attended The Show by NexGen at IMG Academy,” Stephens said.
Stephens describes his stat line from last season.
“I had about 300 rushing yards, I went 1/1 on my passing attempts, I had 4 touchdowns, two fumble recoveries, and two sacks,” Stephens said.
Stephens takes the game of football seriously and he puts plenty of dedication into his craft.
“I do push-ups and I catch 50 passes a day,” Stephens said.
Stephens lists the colleges that he’s currently most interested in.
“My top choices are Alabama, FSU, Clemson, Stanford, and Boise State,” Stephens said.
Stephens is proud of the player and person he’s turned into thanks to the support from his coaches and family.
“I’ve overcome my confidence as I started off shy, and was scared to even catch a football,” Stephens said. “Now I know when I touch the field it’s gonna be a long day if you don’t come ready to play against me.”
