Quran Boyd has punched his ticket to join the best of the best in the Class of 2023. The 5-foot-10, 180-pound Boyd, who plays running back/defensive back/linebacker, is a member of the 2019 Youth1 Freshman450.
Boyd, who attends Kempsville High School in Virginia Beach, VA, expresses plenty of gratitude to be selected to the prestigious list. The humble Boyd is thankful for the national accolade.
“It’s a blessing to be honored as one of the top athletes in the 2023 class,” Boyd said.
Boyd describes what he enjoys about playing at his primary position of running back. Boyd loves breaking off long runs and scoring touchdowns. The roar of the crowd and celebrating with his teammates allure Boyd.
“My favorite part about being a running back is you get to have the ball in your hands a lot and you get the chance to make a play with the ball in your hands,” Boyd said.
Boyd discusses the components of his game that he excels at. Boyd is not only blessed with phenomenal athleticism, but also innate intelligence as a football player. Boyd is capable of dominating his opponents physically and mentally.
“Some of my strengths on the football field are my IQ and my explosiveness,” Boyd said.
For Boyd, the grind continues even in the offseason. Boyd will participate in an event that will provide him with excellent exposure. Boyd will have the opportunity to showcase his talents on the platform.
“I will be attending NextGen’s The SHOW in the summer,” Boyd said.
Boyd is an extremely hard worker who is constantly in the lab honing his craft. Boyd explains some specific aspects he wants to sharpen up.
“I am training in the offseason, trying to become bigger and faster,” Boyd said. “The part of my game that I want to improve on is my speed and balance.”
Boyd believes being chosen for the Freshman450 is validation that he’s on the right course for his development.
“I feel like as a football player I’m becoming a smarter athlete,” Boyd said. “I’m becoming more stronger and explosive.”
