The Youth1 Freshman Report: Quarterbacks

It’s an impressive feat to be able to get meaningful time or start at the varsity level on a high school football team. Youth1 will be looking at some of the freshmen who are making their presence known during this season.

Today, we’ll be looking at a few signal-callers from across the United States.

BRADY EDMUNDS | 6-5 | 200 | California

Edmunds has completed 28-of-56 passes for 451 yards, seven touchdowns, and one interception in his team’s first two games. In his first highlight from his last game, Edmunds shows his mobility and his ability to keep his head up and scan the field for an open receiver. He throws a perfect pass right down the middle of the field for what looks to be a 40-plus yard touchdown. When Edmunds wasn't pressured, he got the ball out quickly to his receivers. I like the fact that he spreads the wealth and delivers passes all over the field.

Edmunds has offers from Arizona State, Miami (OH), and Connecticut.

DANIEL MIELKE II | 6-3 | 185 | California

Mielke has gotten off to a good start to his high school football career by helping his team win its first two games. He has completed 41-of-65 passes for 644 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception in those contests. Mielke threw for 300-plus yards in both games.

Mielke’s offer list includes Arizona State, Charlotte, Colorado State, Georgia, and Indiana.

ZACHARY KATZ | 6-1 | 192 | Florida

Katz completed 12-of-14 passes for 251 yards and five touchdowns in his team’s 42-7 season-opening win. He also ran for 43 yards. Katz demonstrates his arm strength on the first play with a deep pass off the play-action down the middle of the field to a streaking receiver for a 60-plus yard touchdown. He's a pass-first quarterback but very mobile and can move the chains with his legs when needed.

Katz has offers from Bethune-Cookman, Florida International, and Western Michigan.

RYAN RAKOWSKI | 5-11 | 160 | California

Rokowski has completed 19-of-32 passes for 308 yards and three touchdowns in his team’s first two games. The best highlight from his last game shows him rolling to the right and launching a pass that goes over 40 yards in the air to a wide-open receiver on the right hand side of the field for a touchdowns.

Rakowski currently has an offer from Mississippi.

TRENT SEABORN | 6-0 | 175 | Alabama

Seaborn helped his team win a state championship as an 8th grader. He officially started his freshman year of high school football this past weekend. Seaborn completed 20-of-26 passes for 246 yards and two touchdowns in his team’s Week 0 win.

Seaborn's list of 12-plus offers include Alabama, Arizona State, Auburn, Maryland, Nebraska, and North Carolina.
