Christopher Kalu is one of the best players from the Clearwater, FL area in the Class of 2024.
The 5-foot-10, 270-pound Kalu, who attends American Collegiate Academy, is an imposing player that works as a defensive lineman.
Kalu has earned plenty of recognition during his career, such as: F.S.G tryout MVP, 4-time Florida Elite Pro Bowl selection and Florida Elite Defensive Lineman of the Year.
Kalu is humbled by the recognition.
“It tells me that my hard work and talent is getting recognized,” Kalu said. “It makes me feel great because the more I play football I feel like the better I get.”
No matter the opponent, every game Kalu is determined to give it his all.
Kalu is going all out.
The motor is always at full throttle whenever Kalu steps between the lines.
“My mindset at my position is that I don’t care who in front of me,” Kalu said. “They’re just a wall to my goal of the QB.”
Kalu has great passion and energy whenever he’s on the field. Kalu tells why he enjoys the game of football so much.
“What I love about playing football is that I get to release all the pent up aggression and stress I deal with and it’s just all-around fun,” Kalu said.
Kalu has learned many valuable lessons from playing football that he applies to his everyday life.
“Playing football has taught me that sometimes life will be difficult, sometimes life will be easy,” Kalu said.
Kalu shares his favorite memory of playing football.
“My favorite memory of playing was when my team won the Super Bowl,” Kalu said. “It just seemed surreal like I finally got what I was missing.”
Kalu takes his role as one of the leaders on the team very seriously. Kalu makes sure he’s a daily positive influence on his peers.
“When someone’s having a bad game I would hype him up to get back on track,” Kalu said. “The best advice I give is that before you can be the best player on the field you need to be the best player on the field at your position.”
Kalu is appreciative of having amazing male role models that are supportive.
“What I learned from my coaches is better communication skills and how to deal with the most ignorant of people,” Kalu said. “The best advice they give is to stay aware of my surroundings and stay in the books.”
Kalu patterns his play after this standout.
“The player I look up to is Aaron Donald because I love how he is such a prolific pass rusher and still a great run stopper,” Kalu said.
Kalu lists science as his favorite subject in school.
“It’s intriguing and because almost all things can be explained by science,” Kalu said.
Kalu explains his collegiate aspirations.
“My dream college is Auburn because it has my major and it’s still in the SEC,” Kalu said.
Kalu is striving for greatness in all that he does.
“My goal on the field is get 4-6 tackles a game and off the field my goal is to be on the honor roll,” Kalu said.
