Kentucky/Tennessee FSG: Kentucky 7th Grade DB Breakdown

In any all-star game you don’t know how the offenses are going to come together.  With so much firepower on the other side, the defensive backs become crucial for any defense because they’ll be needed to defend against both the run game and passing game.  Here’s a look at the defensive backs for the 7th grade Kentucky Future Stars.

The Louisville tryout proved to the spot to pick out the 7th grade defensive backs for the Kentucky Future Stars.  Of all the 7th grade athletes trying out as a defensive back, Braxton Cannon is one that really impressed back in April.  He has decent size and very long limbs that help him cover more area than expected.  He also brings a physical style of play and can play either corner or safety depending on need and scheme.

Another corner expected to be a key piece in the Kentucky 7th grade Future Stars defense will be Bryce Yates.  By no means is he the biggest corner (5’5, 120) but he’s extremely quick in coverage.  In addition to his quickness, he has straight-line speed and excellent ball skills.  He was a member of Kentucky’s 7th grade FBU tournament team and could be a bright spot in the return game if necessary too.

Here's a look at the rest of the Kentucky Future Stars 7th Grade defensive back group:
