Minor Shakeup in 12U USSSA National Power Rankings

The LA Xtreme Blue/White United and Texas Canes jumped into the fourth and fifth spots nationally since the last time we took a deep dive into the 12U National Power Rankings. It’s been two months since the last edition. MVP Hustle, Scottsdale Dirbags and Banditos Black have done enough to remain consistent presences toward the top of the list.

  1. MVP Hustle Prieto: MVP Hustle stays at the top spot after a second place and two first place finishes in USSSA action since the last rankings report. After stubbing their toe at The Chiller Qualifier in February, the boys from Norwalk, California, most notably took the title at the  South Texas Select30 Super NIT a couple of weeks ago. Manager Robert Prieto has guided his team to a 25-2 overall record, 18-1 In Class.
  2. Los Banditos Black: The Banditos Black (pictured) have been on an absolute tear since they started the spring season. After a month and a half break, the boys from Phoenix have rattled off four consecutive tournament titles, beginning with the Spring Training II Qualifier earlier this month. The two titles in between came at the Spring Championships Select30 Super NIT and another Super NIT last weekend. The Banditos are 36-5-1 overall and are threatening to take the No.1 spot from MVP Hustle.
  3. Alamo Drillers: The Drillers from San Antonio are currently playing in the March Global NIT and outscored opponents 19-0 through the first two games. Earlier this month they finished the South Texas Select30 Super NIT with a 3-1 record, only losing 5-2 to Twelve Black. The Drillers are 11-1 In Class this season and have outscored those teams by an average of seven runs per game. Last fall they had a great USSSA campaign, winning both tournaments they entered (Super NITs).
  4. Scottsdale Dirtbags Black: The Dirtbags have been quite active this year having played five USSSA tournaments in 2019. They’ve competed in three this month alone, finishing with a 3-1 record at the Spring Championships Super NIT. Manager Eric Carlson will have his team back in action this upcoming weekend at the USSSA Spring Classic I with pool play games against the AZ Rattlers and Central Arizona Coyotes. The Dirtbags do most of their damage with an explosive offense, averaging over 10 runs per game In Class.
  5. LA Xtreme Blue/White United: The Xtreme have played in 62 USSSA games between the fall and winter seasons, one of the most in the country. In seven 2019 tournaments, the Xtreme have not finished in worse than fifth place, with four titles. The boys from Los Angeles won the March Madness Super NIT earlier this month with a 4-1 mark and manager Eric Beckerman will have his squad ready for an active spring campaign.
