Youth1 brings you our live evaluation series where we let you know what we thought of prospects that we have been able to see in person. Today, we look at an athlete who will be a name to know in Pennsylvania in the upcoming years. Youth1 recently checked out Class of 2028 athlete Chrys Black Jr. during the Battle youth football tournament in Virginia back in late August. Black is a 5-foot-8 athlete who plays both running back and cornerback for the Ginn Elite Jr. 14/u team based out of Ohio. On a team of standouts, Black made an impression during Ginn Elite's dominating win over the Maryland Heat.
I've had an opportunity to watch Black in 7-on-7 and camp settings. In both instances, his speed and athleticism stood out amongst the other players he competed against in each setting. During the Battle youth football game, he made an impact in all phases of the game. As you'll be able to see in the highlights below. Black scored a rushing touchdown, returned a kickoff for big yardage, broke up a pass, and made a huge hit on a ball carrier.
Black will impact both sides of the football once he reaches high school. He has great speed and can stop and start on a dime. He's quick, twitchy, and has that second-gear to take it the distance. Black hasn't been playing cornerback for long but looks like a natural at the position. His recovery speed made it hard for the Maryland Heat receivers to catch any passes on him. Black is one of the top track-and-field athletes in his class. There aren't too many wide receivers that can catch passes against Black on on a consistent basis. The Ginn Elite team has a lot of playmakers on the team and Black is one of them. He's exciting to watch when he has the football in his hands.
