One of the best athletes from the 2024 class, Rod Gainey Jr. has announced his commitment to Charlotte.
Gainey has been touted as an elite football prospect since his youth days. Youth1 identified Gainey as the #1 prospect in the 2024 class on our Elite101 Rankings, during his 8th grade season back in 2019.
The Tampa, FL Running Back is known for his dynamic ability with the ball in his hands. It's no surprise that countless D1 programs were salivating at the chance to get Gainey in their respective programs.
Gainey had plenty of other offers including, Florida, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Maryland, Mississippi State, Penn State, Toledo, UCF, USF and West Virginia, to name a few.
He took to his personal Twitter page to announce his commitment to Charlotte.

Gainey is an extremely talented back, who we've thought very highly of since his youth days. Seeing an Elite101 #1 Ranked prospect receive countless offers and then make a commitment to the school of his choice, is proof that elite talent can be identified early.
