2022 QB Banks Atkins is ready to embrace the competition at NextGen's The Show 2018

The summer serves as the offseason for football players. While most young people spend their summer by the pool or enjoying time with friends, dedicated youth football players are training and competing during their offseason to get better.

Coming up in a couple weeks is NextGen's The Show on June 22-24 in Atlanta, GA. For those unfamiliar, The Show is one of the nation’s biggest youth football events. It serves as a great showcase for some of the country’s top talents.

This year's event is full of talent at all positions, especially at QB.

Among the remarkable young Quarterbacks that will be in attendance is 2022's Banks Atkins, who came in at #59 on Youth1's 2017 Elite101 Rankings. For those unfamiliar with the Elite101 rankings, they serve as a valuable resource for pinpointing the nation's absolute best athletes entering their 8th grade season.

Standing at 6'2 180 lbs., Atkins is a supreme passer with a ton of talent. His throwing arm is remarkable as he can throw every pass in the playbook. His accuracy is just as impressive. He delivers the ball with precision on every pass. The deep ball he throws is a thing of beauty.

Atkins is great talent on the field but he prides himself most on being a leader of his team.

"My favorite part of football is making plays and being a leader," Atkins said. "I play Quarterback and my favorite part is being in charge of the offense. I enjoy the pressure and importance of the position."

Watching Atkins throw ball after ball is a treat. His pocket presence is beyond his years. Perhaps most importantly, Atkins has the intangibles and mechanics to be one of the best overall prospects in his class.

"I feel that I am gaining more knowledge of the position and am getting better physically and mentally," Atkins said. "My strengths are my leadership, arm strength and my size. I also like the pressure and clutch situations."

Receiving an invitation for the second straight year to NextGen's invite-only event, The Show, is a testament to the talent that Atkins has. The Roswell, GA native is excited to showcase his skills on a big stage.

"I am excited to participate in The Show. I participated in The Show last year and I enjoyed it. It is always fun competing against the best and I embrace the competition. I believe I will do well at The Show," Atkins said.

The Show will be a great opportunity for Atkins to work on his craft and get better against some of the nation's other top young athletes.

"I am always working on the physical aspects of the game such as footwork, accuracy and arm strength. I am also working on identifying complex coverages and always embracing the x’s and o’s," Atkins said.

"For the next level I am working on becoming faster and stronger so I can excel on the high school stage."

2022 QB Banks Atkins is a stellar young QB with loads of talent. He can make all the throws and has one of the nation's best young arms. With The Show just around the corner, Atkins is ready to embrace the competition and ball out.
