When it comes to youth volleyball, Medicine Hat and area girls continue to be among the best in Alberta.

The South East Alberta Volleyball Club sent four under-14 teams to Calgary for a provincial club tournament this past weekend, which is remarkable enough in itself.

More remarkable? The Rattlers Black squad won the event.

Black went 7-0, finishing with a decisive 2-0 (25-13, 25-18) win over Calgary’s Canuck in the championship game Sunday.

“The girls played great on Sunday,” wrote coach Tim Bloomfield in an email. “Just out working every other team there and not giving them a chance to get any momentum.”

One of Black’s wins came at the expense of Rattlers Gold, who wound up finishing 15th overall. Rattlers White were 13th and Venom 29th.
