Youth1 will be bringing you evaluations of youth football prospects that we get to see in person during the season. These prospects are currently in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.
AUMARI OLIVER | 5-7 | 158 | SUSQUEHANA TOWNSHIP | ATHLETE | PENNSYLVANIA | 2028
Aumari Oliver might be one of the more dynamic Class of 2028 prospects in Pennsylvania. On offense, he lines up at the wide receiver position. He caught two touchdown passes and ran another one in from 40-plus yards out. On the two touchdown receptions. Oliver did a great job of high-pointing the football and making the catch in double-coverage. On one of the catches, he displayed his ability to concentrate on the football and catch a tipped pass for the score. Oliver's other touchdown came on an end-around where once he hit the corner, he was gone.
CORVIN EDWARDS | RUNNING BACK | CHAMBERSBURG | PENNSYLVANIA
Corvin Edwards might've been one of the smaller running backs that I watched over the weekend but he made some nice runs against an athletic Harrisburg Cougars defense. He has a compact build, strong lower-body, and is a physical runner. He gets downhill in a hurry and has a lot of quickness to him. He is the epitome of a scatback, not the biggest, but still hard to tackle and hard to catch once he gets around the corner. Edwards had a touchdown run near the goal-line that showed his toughness as took on two defenders before crossing the goal-line.
DAMIR ARP | QUARTERBACK | HARRISBURG | PENNSYLVANIA | 2028
I've had an opportunity to see Arp in both a camp and a in-game setting within the past few months. The dual-threat quarterback made big plays with both his arm and legs. He threw a couple of touchdown passes and ran for another against Chambersburg. Outside of one pass he'd probably like to take back, I thought Arp did a good job of pushing the ball downfield and giving his wide receivers a chance to make plays on the 50/50 balls. I was impressed with how he sold the fake handoff to the running back near Chambersburg's goal-line and ran around the right end untouched into the end zone for the score. Looking forward to see how he progresses over the course of the season.
JAYSHAUN MITCHELL | 5-3 | 145 | ATHLETE | SUSQUEHANNA TOWNSHIP | PENNSYLVANIA | 2028
Jayshaun Mitchell did a little bit of everything in Susquehanna Township's scrimmage against Red Land. He made a couple of tackles and recovered a fumble. However, his impact was felt that most on offense. Mitchell, who is a running back, scored three long touchdowns from at least 40-plus yards. I've had an opportunity to see him in game-action a few times in the past year and he made it look real easy out there. Mitchell is explosive off the ball, runs with pads low, and explodes through the whole. During the scrimmage, he showed his ability to run through contact and tackles for extra yardage. Mitchell is also elusive in space and is hard to tackle in one-on-one situations. His lateral quickness enabled him to bounce a couple of runs wide and beat defenders to the corner.
RYAN POTTLE | LINEMAN | CHAMBERSBURG | PENNSYLVANIA | 2028
Ryan Pottle was the most disruptive defensive linemen that I had an opportunity to evaluate last weekend. He has a non-stop motor and is relentless in pursuing the ball-carrier. Pottle plays with good leverage is consistently attacks up the field. His initial burst off the ball threatened the gap and made it hard for the offense to run inside. He has an aggressive demeanor and plays with an attitude. I like it.
Stay tuned to Youth1 for more live evaluations throughout the upcoming weeks.
