It's Blue Chip members like Owen Desalvo who make our jobs so rewarding and exciting. It's uncommon for anyone to expect an impending first offer for an athlete five seasons away from his graduation, but the vibe around the Youth1 office was that Owen Desalvo has been on the verge of that first offer for several months. Desalvo is a 5'11 175lb running back with intense speed, power and agility and he's not graduating until 2028. It's scary to think that his baseline right now is that of a suitable prospect three years older than he is, but that's where we're at.
We're talking a big game about him, because he lets his play do the talking: he's a high character, high academic achiever with a great head on his shoulders and a family with the tools to keep everything both in focus and in perspective.
DeSalavo was offered by the University of Massachusetts. He is a native of Massachusetts and attends Buckingham Brown & Nichols High School. DeSalvo announced his first offer via Twitter this past Friday.

DeSalvo is starting at the safety position for his high school team as an eighth-grader. Prior to the start of this season, his name was on the radar due to some of his success at a few off-season events.
This past April, DeSalvo was named the running back MVP at the NXGN Elite Showcase in New Jersey. His performance earned him an invitation to THESHOW by NXGN later in July. DeSalvo also participated in the Dream All-American game at AT&T Stadium in Dallas this past July and was named MVP.
Congratulations to Owen on his first offer!
