Wanting the ball when the game is on the line is something the best of the best desire. It separates the greats from the rest of the pack. That resolve to remain calm with the game on the line and then to deliver a big play to get your team the win is a rare commodity. Only certain athletes have the demeanor to not let nerves, pressure, and fear creep in when it's winning time.
Remaining poised is not a problem for 2022 QB Caden Becker, who thrives in big game situations and has become one of the elite QB prospects from his class
"I love being in big games. There is something about it. When the stakes get high, I don’t really get nervous and there really isn’t anything that can replace the thrill of winning in those types of games," Becker said.
"I love being around my teammates. Their success is my success," he added.
Coming in at 6'1" 155 lbs., Becker has great height for a young QB. Becker has superb arm strength and kin accuracy that allow him to make pinpoint throws downfield. His ability to throw from the pocket really catches the eye. He has great footwork on his dropbacks, always keeps his feet moving while looking downfield, and has a beautiful throwing motion.
Perhaps most impressive is that Becker looks like a professional quarterback and he's still only in the 8th grade. That's how polished he looks on the field.
"I have an accurate arm and can place the ball in tight windows. I don’t miss throws too often and I can throw my receivers open. My arm strength will only get better as I mature. I can create a secondary plan with my feet when I need to. I’m always working to improve," Becker said of his strength on the field.
"I’m a good student academically and have a good football IQ for my age," he added.

The Omaha, NE native recently was given the #38 spot on Youth1 Media's annual Elite101 rankings that features the 2022 class this year.
For those unfamiliar, the Elite101 rankings have been a valuable resource for pinpointing the nation's absolute best athletes entering their 8th grade season. Being ranked as one of the top 101 athletes from the 2022 class in the nation is an impressive accolade for Becker, who has worked diligently for all his successes.
"My team won the Omaha MYFL 8th grade championship game this year. The team we beat was coached by Heisman Trophy winner Eric Crouch and Outland Trophy winner Zach Wiegert," Becker said.
"My team worked our tail off to get another shot and we ended up winning it all in 2017. Another high point during the playoffs this year was during our quarterfinal play-off game against rival Burke H.S, we converted a 40-yard Hail Mary TD on 4th and 18 to send the game into OT. We eventually won in OT."
Becker has had his share of success on the field, but is by no means resting on his laurels. He's consistently working to progress and take his game to the next level.
"I’m working on improving my fundamentals. I’m working on my footwork, 3 and 5 step strops under center and footwork out of shotgun. I’m also working on moving in the pocket, throwing on the run, getting the ball out quickly in the quick game, play actions and ball fakes and other stuff," Becker said.
"I really want to get better with my reads. I’m learning more about reading coverages and where to exploit vulnerabilities in coverages based on what is being presented. I want to put on 15 pounds of lean muscle before my freshman year starts," he added.
As he pushes himself to develop as a passer, Becker has modeled his game after one of the NFL's elite quarterbacks.
"I would say Matt Ryan... when Matt was in high school he was a good 3 sport athlete in football, baseball, and basketball like me," Becker said.
"When he could finally focus all his attention on football, he became NFL MVP in 2016. We have similar body type as I am also projected to be in that 6’5” / 220 lb. range after I mature and workout with weigh training. I’m not a freak athlete but am athletic for my size and frame," he added.
2022 QB Caden Becker is an elite youth quarterback prospect with the ability to lead his team to tough victories. His poise, leadership, and talent are remarkable. His talent as a pocket passer makes him an exciting young QB to follow, as he's sure to only get better from here.
"My goal is to start varsity QB by my sophomore year. That is a huge goal for me. I know I am going to have to develop physically to compete and earn a shot. It is a goal," Becker said.
