Coach Ellis is in his first year coaching Pierre with the Ocoee Bulldogs organization.
Ellis knows talent.
Ellis has coached Brandon Siler, who played for the national champion Florida Gators, Mike Sims-Walker, who played for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, a former first round draft pick by the Green Bay Packers.
Ellis started out coaching in the city league in his area. After coaching there for many years he went over to Pine Hills Youth Sports and started coaching Pop Warner for the Pine Hills Trojans.
Then he moved over to the Ocoee Bulldogs and he’s been coaching there for three years.
Ellis also is a track coach too.
“Most of my football players run for my track team which is called Florida Elite Track Club one of the fastest track teams in the country,” Ellis said.
Ellis explains the best parts of Pierre’s game on both sides of the ball.
“Charles Pierre’s nickname is ‘Beast Mode’ because he's very very very physical when running the ball,” Ellis said. “Defensively, he has a nose for the ball and a knack to know where to be to cause havoc.”
Pierre takes his role as one of the leaders on the team very seriously. Pierre makes sure he’s a daily positive influence on his peers.
“I try to be a good teammate by always having my teammates’ back and making sure the team is where they need to be,” Pierre said. “I tell my teammates ‘Don’t give up no matter how hard the game is going because it’s never too late.”
Ellis adds that Pierre is one of those consummate teammates that every locker room needs to be successful.
“He has great leadership and I believe his leadership plays a part of him having a 4.0 grade point average,” Ellis said. “Charles is a very academic achiever. His grades are amazing. Charles is a great leader. He’s also accomplished a lot on the field because he's always motivating the kids to do better and if the game is tight he's always requesting to the coach on what he thinks can work.”
Pierre is appreciative of having amazing male role models that are supportive.
“I’ve learned from my coaches that if you want to accomplish anything it’s going to take a lot of hard work,” Pierre said. “The best advice my coaches gave me was if someone hits you in the mouth get back up the next play and then hit them in the mouth even harder.”
Ellis sees a lot of similarities on both sides of the ball between Pierre and these players.
“Pierre’s play on defense reminds me so much of Brandon Siler because he closes on the ball like few youth football players can do,” Ellis said. “Offensively, Charles is very elusive. He reminds me a lot like Chris Johnson.”
Meanwhile, young ‘Beast Mode’ looks up to the originator.
“I like Marshawn Lynch because he is a really good running back that makes incredible runs,” Pierre said.
Pierre is constantly striving for greatness daily through any way possible to continue to hone his craft.
Ellis says Pierre is always on the grind.
“Pierre’s work ethic amazing,” Ellis said. “He trains very hard to get better each day.”
Pierre lists his favorite subject in school as science.
“I like to learn about space, earth and humans,” Pierre said. “Science makes sense to me.”
Pierre’s dream is to one day become the next great Crimson Tide player.
“I want to attend Alabama because have a great football program and a lot of talent has come from there,” Pierre said.
Pierre has set a high standard for himself.
“My goals on the field are to score touchdowns and rush for over 50 yards a game,” Pierre said. “My goals off the field are to stay in shape and to focus more on school.”
Ellis sees unlimited potential for Pierre.
“Charles is amazing athlete and I'm looking forward to him on doing some big things in the years to come,” Ellis said.
