The Dynasty of the North Texas Knights

The Dynasty of the North Texas Knights

(Youth1 Football) - When you talk about the Knights of Texas, the term dynasty should to come to mind.  Over the past three years, the Knights have been on an incredible run, and finished this season with an 18-0 record.

The list of accomplishments were off the charts this year for the Knights, who started things off by taking home the Battle on Rocky Top Championship in Knoxville, Tennessee, which had over 240 teams in it, including Iowa’s famed FBU Team.  They went on to defeat the Dallas FBU Team to win the Thanksgiving Turkey Bowl.  The Knights went to the King Classic National Championship in Houston, home of 2x Spring State Champions, Fort Bend Express.  The Knights defeated the Express on their home turf two times in the same day to win the Classic.  North Texas concluded their remarkable run, by winning the Offense Defense National Championship for the third consecutive year, and finished the season undefeated.

Under the tutelage of head coach, Damien Williams, the Knights are the most feared team in all of Texas.  “We are the three time National Champion, winning as 11U, 12U and this year as 8th graders,” said Williams.  “Winning isn’t everything, but wanting to, is.”

Leading the way at quarterback for the Knights is Jaylin Nelson, (#10 Elite 101).  For the second consecutive year, Nelson threw for at least 2,500 yards with 27 touchdowns, and went over the 300-yard mark, six times.  Nelson would often hook up with his favorite receiver, Reggie Roberson, and to help with the offensive load, had a three-headed monster at running back, consisting of Dominic Williams, Jordan Butler, and Kobe Morrow.  For Jaylin Nelson’s quarterback efforts, this season he was named to the Eastbay Youth All-American Game.

With numbers like those above, you know Nelson had to thank his dominating, offense line.  Anchoring it, were none other than big, bad duo:  Patrick Flannery, (#59 Elite 101), who stands at 5’11 and 285 pounds, and Anthony Kantzabedian, a truly powerful force.

On the defensive side of things, are some names that could be worth remembering: Michael Menditto, Michael Key, Brandon Williams, Matthew Siggers, and Ladarius Dickens.  Menditto is a defensive tackle, who can plow through any offensive line with ease.  Key is a defensive end, who moves off the line quicker than anyone you will see at his age.  Williams is a top shutdown corner, and boy, you don’t want to cross paths with linebacker tandem of Siggers and Dickens, two of the hardest hitters in the league.

This was an all-around year of great accomplishments for the Knights.  They not only went undefeated and took home the National Championship; they saw a lot of players receive individual awards for their remarkable season.  In the next few weeks, the boys from the Lone Star State will get ready to suit up once again for their spring season, and look to continue a remarkable run.  Hoping to forever be known as, the best youth football team in Texas.
