Wrestlers Head Down I-64 for Fall Classic

(Youth1 Wrestling) – With wrestling season on the horizon, the wrestling world will get an appetizer sampling this weekend when the Interstate 64 Wrestling Championship Fall Classic gets underway at
Ocean Lakes High School in
Virginia Beach, VA.

The 2nd Annual Interstate 64 Fall Classic is destined to become one of the best preseason wrestling tournaments in the country.

“Last year, wrestlers from 10 states competed for the 1st Annual Tidewater Cup. Our mission is to run a well organized, unique wrestling event with outstanding hospitality and present high quality awards,” notes Tournament Director Corey Beckner.

This year’s event is headlined by 3x national champion Vincent Zerban, who will be making the trip from Illionois. Zerban will be competing in the Elementary 69 lbs. division and will look at add another title notch to his belt.  

Other notable wrestlers who will be participating in the elementary division this weekend include Mason Barrett from Powerhouse Wrestling Academy (VA), Dalton Kirby of the Mistfits Wrestling Club (PA), and Graham Calhoun from Indiana.

Jacob Brasseur from
Sun Valley, North Carolina, Jarrett Tardiff from Powerhouse Wrestling Academy (VA), Dylan Ebanks from Beat the Streets (NY), and Christos Avgeros from Predator Wrestling Club (VA) will headline the middle school division.

Beckner says, “More and more tough wrestlers have been entering the event over the past couple of days. I fully expect this event will sell out at 300 kids. I’m looking forward to a great weekend of wrestling and seeing the kids begin their 2012-2013 season campaigns.”

The champions of each weight class will receive the Tidewater Cup, while the other three place winners will receive a quality 3’ custom-made medal that is unique to the tournament. An Outstanding Wrestler Award will also be awarded in each division.
