The 2014 Grappler Classic was held in Battle Creek, Michigan this past weekend, featuring a talented crop of wrestlers from the Midwest. Below, we take a look at how each of the middle school weight

75-Pounds
Colton Drousias of Michigan West WC went 4-1 in his five matches in a round robin format in capturing gold in the 75-pound division. His only loss was surprisingly to fourth place finisher Andrew Chambal (All-American Grappling). Riley Bettich also went 4-1 but lost to Drousias in overtime 4-2. Hunter Assenmacher of Ida WC finished third.
80-Pounds
David Stepanian of Team Donahoe, who has won 12 of his last 13 tournaments, won all three of his matches by fall to take first place in the 80-pound division. He defeated Tarrence Daugherty Jr. of Silverback Academy by fall in 4:20 of the finals. Sam Freeman of WLC Blast wrestled back in the consolations for third, winning a 4-0 decision over Jake Wohltman.
85-Pounds
Derek Gilcher of Team Donahoe, and winner of his last four tournaments, defeated Matthew Ramos (Bolingbrook Junior Raid) by an 8-0 major decision to capture the 85-lb title. In the consolation bracket, Nickolas Alayan of Dakota WC took third pace with an 8-0 major decision win over Chris Haynes of Eaton Rapids Wrestling.
90-Pounds
Tucker Sholl of Hudson County Wrestling Club won a 3-2 decision over Logan Bailey of High Rollers for first place in the 90-pound division. Kyle Borthwell of Silverback Academy wrestled back in the consolations, taking home third place with a 6-1 decision over Tanner Miller.
95-Pounds
Cayden Rooks of Indiana Outlaws won all four of his matches in a round robin format to take the gold in his division. He defeated second place finisher Stoney Buell by a 7-1 decision in their matchup. Buell took down third place finisher Kyle Kantola of Hartland by a 5-2 decision.
100-Pounds
Kevon Davenport of Pontiac Huskies, who before his last three tournaments had won his previous nine tourneys, finished first in the 100-pound division. Davenport defeated Jordan Crace of Team Jordan in the finals by a 5-2 decision. Dylan Burnoski of Bolingbrook Junior Raid wrestled back in the consolations for third place, beating Nate Wheeler by a 2-0 decision.
105-Pounds
Kaleob Whitford of St. John’s, and winner of his last six tournaments entered, won the 105-pound division title. He took down Chase Yost of Woodford County by fall in 3:50 of the title match. In the consolation bracket, Graham Calhoun of Plymouth finished in third, winning a 9-0 major decision over Anthonie Taylor (Team Hendy).
110-Pounds
Logan Heil of Brunswick defeated Marc Shaeffer of Team Donahoe by a 7-4 decision to take home gold in the 110-pound division. Carson Price of Hudson Wrestling Club wrestled back in the consolations, finishing in third after beating Logan Andrew for the second time, this one by a 4-1 decision.
120-Pounds
Zane Brown of ETC won all three of his matches by major decision on his way to the 120-pound title. He defeated Nathan Wynsma of Allendale WC by a 13-0 major decision in the title match. In the consolation bracket, Michael Gunther of Wrestling Factory won a 5-0 decision over Matthew Grant (PIGS) to capture third place.
130-Pounds
Cal Stefanko of Davison won a close 1-0 decision over Braxton Parks (Inflict) in the title match to finish in first place. Jack Richardson of Rockford wrestled back in the consolations, taking home third place after defeating Anthony Williams of Maple Valley Wrestling.
145-Pounds
BJ Bailey of Harvey Twisters won a 5-2 decision in the finals to finish first in his division. He defeated McAllister McAvoy of Dundee WC, who has finished in the top three in his last 13 tournaments. Logan Ramos of Higher Level wrestled back in the consolations, finishing in third after beating River Shettler by a 2-0 decision.
170-Pounds
With only two participants in this division, the wrestlers only participated in one match to determine the winner. Clay Shaeffer of Team Donahoe, who has won his last 10 tournaments, won an 18-4 major decision over Justin Poeppel of Warrior Elite.
Heavyweight
Johnny Shafer of Team Jordan won all five of his matches in a round robin format to capture gold in the heavyweight division. He defeated second place finisher Joel Radvansky of Warren Woods Tower by a 4-0 decision in their matchup. Radvansky defeated third place finisher Easton Turner of Top Dog in the de-facto runner up match by a 3-1 decision.
