On a 90-plus degree day in Dallas, TX, the Diamond Sports Group hosted the last event in their 4-part D1 Savage Series. Before the last stop in Dallas, the D1 Savage Series held successful events in Murrieta, CA, Virginia Beach, VA, and Canton, OH. The Dallas event picked up right where the previous Savage events left off, with competitive games from 3rd-8th grades.
Here are the Top Performers, presented by HeroFuel.
3rd Grade
Arieus Finley Jr. – RB
Finley shined during the 3rd grade game with his ability to make big runs. His ability to juke defenders and get downfield is remarkable.
Dereon Hudson – QB/DB
Hudson was another standout for the Red team. He helped run the offense and even played good ball on defense.
Kyler Shelby – QB/DB
Shelby did a solid job all game long running the White team’s offense. He plays hard on every down and can use his legs to get downfield.
Colby McGehee – LB/FB
McGehee made an impact on both sides of the ball. He’s a bruising runner from the Fullback position and a hard-nosed tackler from the Linebacker position. He was named an MVP of the 3rd grade game.
4th Grade
Kelwin Edwards – RB
Edwards had his share of great runs through the 4th grade game. He broke free for a couple length runs including a 70-plus yarder that was impressive.
Derynn Owens – QB
Owens was an impressive leader for the White team all game long. He led their offense with big plays throughout the game.
Dominic Warner – RB
Warner was a bright spot for the Red team. He ran the ball well and picked up tough yards with less than stellar blocking. He was named as an MVP.
Dequane Prevo – QB
Prevo was a shining star throughout the 4th grade game. He made big play after big play. He put up a few TD’s to help guide the White team to a win. Prevo took home the Overall MVP award.
5th Grade
Quest Morris – OL/DL
Morris made his impact felt on the line all game for the 5th grade Red team. He’s a bruising blocker and knows how to clear running lanes for his back.
JaKel Brown – RB
Brown was stellar running the ball. He runs with purpose and was able to puts points on the board for the Red squad.
DeShawn Smith – S
Smith was a star of the game. He made plays in the secondary all game long, including two game-changing interceptions.
Michael Henderson – RB
Henderson was a bright spot for the White squad. He had his share of impressive runs including a 30 yarder on a reverse.
6th Grade
Jaden Hart – RB/S
Hart is one of the best young athletes in his class and it showed at the D1 Savage event in Dallas. He scored 3 touchdowns while making it look easy. Hart is a tough competitor that plays hard on every down. His talent really shines, as he’s a bright spot on offense, defense, and special teams. He even kicked in an extra point after a score. He was named as the 6th grade game’s Overall MVP.
Jatavien Taylor – LB
Taylor was a major key to the White team’s success on defense. He hunted down runners and the quarterback all game long.
Mykel McDonald – RB
McDonald was able to make plays to help guide the White squad to a win.
Keidrick Richardson Jr. – RB/LB
Richardson scored the Red team’s only TD of the game. He played hard throughout and keeps working hard to move the chains for the Red team.
7th/8th Grade
Kaleb Miller – RB
Miller was the best athlete on the field during the 7th/8th grade game. He blew away the crowd with his blazing speed. He scored a pair of TDs and was named the Overall MVP.
Michael Peat – DL
Peat was presence on the D-Line for the Red team.
Jermaine Corbin – RB
Corbin was is a tough runner that made life tough on the Red defense. He’s a tough runner to bring down for defenders.
Jabari King – WR
King caught his share of impressive catches throughout the game for the White squad. He runs great routes and catches the well ball in traffic. He was also named as an MVP.
