(Youth1 Softball) The 2013 fastpitch season has begun and that means our regular in-season rankings are back. Each and every Friday, we're bringing you the top teams across the country, that continue to make a name for themselves in tournament play. This week, we take a look at the top 10 12U teams. At No.10 this week are the girls of the East Cobb (Lewis), out of Acworth, Georgia, who are 11-3 overall and already World Series Qualified. The team holds a 1213 power rating and picked up a 1st place finish in March at the ICE Breaker Classic by going 4-1 in tournament play and recording 38 runs offensively while only allowing two runs against. The SJ Strikkers is comprised of Arielle Acosta, Isabella Anglikowski, Briana Avalos, Kayla Dominguez, Mya Galindo-Crossfield, Makaylah Gargia, Eternity Gomez, Neilani Martinez, Atalia Quenga, Anika Rajamani, Marissa Ramos, and Meghan Robertson. |
The Nor Cal Cruisers recently picked up a 1st place finish earlier in April at the Spring Fling held at Big League Dreams in Manteca, California. The squad won 7-6 in championship play against the East County Hot Shots, and earned the "Walk-off" victory when Taylor Cedeno stole home with two outs on a wild pitch. Birdy Simon, Nevaeh Rodriguez, Izzy Calibo each pitched for a combined 19 strikeouts, while Rodriguez (.500), Elissa Cueva (.500), Melissa Boggs(.333) and Calibo (.462) led the team offensively.This was the team's second 1st place finish in a row, with their other championship finish coming a week prior at the All World Battle of the Bats tournament (7-1). The team is now focused on this weekend's tournament in Hayward. The Cruisers are comprised of Acacia Anders, Ashley Bline, Melissa Boggs, Isabella Calibo, Taylor Cedeno, Elisa Cueva, Kennedy Lydon, Sanae Lydon, Brianna Phillips, Neveah Rodriguez, and Birdy Simon. |
At 24-10-3, this World Series qualified team holds a 1114 power rating. The team picked up three 1st place finishes during the fall, and a 1st place finish this spring in April at Swing into Spring (5-1-1). During the team's 1st place finish, the girls produced 27 runs offensively and defeated KC Elite '00 9-0 in championship play. This talented group shows no signs of letting up anytime soon. The Originals-CK are comprised of Katie Bean, Brianna Carter, Maci Cunconan, Lindsey Gilbert, Lexi Kump, Laura Lockard, Hannah Miller, Jordan Richards, Brittnay Sundermeier, and Jordan Weber. |
The Jacksonville Storm 2000 squad is comprised of Savanna Brown, Molly Crawford, Caroline Depirro, Kirsty Granville, Hope Hamilton, Morgan Hill, Ashleigh Jennings, Madison Lanoux, Destiny Pacetti, Hailey Raulerson, and Bailey Story. |
At No.5 and halfway through this week's countdown to to top, are the Blazers 2000 out of Port Orange, Florida. The squad is 14-3 overall with a 1234 power rating and two 1st place finishes in the fall. The team most recently finished 3rd in April at the Spring Stampede NIT 3X PTS. (4-2). The Blazers 2000 are comprised of Jillian Anderson, Allie Beard, Samantha Gardner, Jessica Hanflink, Abagaile Killian, Madison Sand, Jillian Stockhammer, Kyleigh Taylor, and Shaye Wood. |
With a 1264 power rating and a 16-1 tournament record thus far on the 2012-2013 season, it's no wonder Suncats 2000 comes in at the No.4 spot. This World Series qualified team already has two 1st place finishes under their belts this spring with their latest victory coming at the "12U" Open State Championship (7-0), scoring an impressive 76 runs offensively while giving up just seven. The Suncats 2000 are comprised of Marina Acedo, Kaitlyn Anderson, Miranda Carley, Madyson Devers, Malaealani Fraser, Brianna Hardy, Mariah Jaquez, Madison Judge, Nicol Tey Portillo, Reanna Martinez, Isabel Pacho, Alison Smith, Hailey Tanori, and Kayla Wilson.

Clinching the No.3 spot this week are the girls of the Hotshots Elite 00, who continue to crush the competition. The World Series qualified squad is 21-5 overall with a 1st place finish during the fall and two 2nd place finishes earlier this Spring. The squad continues to grow stronger with every tournament, and should be a very exciting team to watch come World Series play later on this summer. Hotshots Elite 00 are comprised of Maddie Bejarano, Kelly Flynn, Mariah Jaquez, Jessica Mabrey, Dren Meginnis, Makenna Nelson, Kayla Scholz, Syndi Solis, Maggie Thurston, Alynah Torres, Lorena Vasquez-Inzunza, and Bianca Worthy. |
Always a strong competitor and top-notch organization, Nebraska Fury '00 sits in the No.2 spot at 29-2 overall. The team is World Series qualified, holds a 1170 power rating, and picked up four 1st place finishes during the fall. The team recently picked up a 1st place finish this spring at the St. Patty's Indoor BLAST back in March (5-0). Most recently, the squad earned a 2nd place finish in April at the NIT April Fools Shootout (5-1). Fury's 2013 squad includes, Courtney Baxter, Tori Geis, Jaynne Horan, Colby Lemkau, Meagan Mackling, Macie Mally, Rylee Pauli, Emma Raabe, Kate Rehberg, Lexie Swift, Bailey Urban, and Hannah Warner. |
