(Youth1) â The state of Georgia has a burgeoning culture of female wrestling from the youth divisions up through high school. The sport continues to grow in popularity and the Georgia Girls State Championships show how competitive and promising the girls divisions have become.
Â
âIt was great,â said Team Georgia Pairing Director, Cheryl Flatt. âThe biggest thing that I saw was the camaraderie between the competitors who come together from all across the state.â
Â
Celebrating its 2nd year, the Georgia Girls State Wrestling Championship featured over 60 competitors, each of whom is committed to the sport. âThe ultimate goal is to have as many girls wrestling as the boys some day,â said Flatt. The level of competition is sure to inspire others to get on the mat.
