The top team from Virginia has continued to roll in the spring season as the Arlington Impact Red kick off our rankings at No. 10. The Virginia State Champions (B13) recently reached the quarterfinals of the Annandale Premier Cup 2012 (B14 Adidas Premier), pocketing a 4-0 win over the formidable Ohio Premier Eagles Green before losing a tight 2-1 decision in the quarters to the No. 3 Dix Hills Soccer Success Elite. The squad swept four games - outscoring its opponents by a 10-1 margin - to capture the Bethesda Thanksgiving Tournament (B14 Potomac) last fall. They bested the Chantilly Soccer Club Strikers 1-0 in the decider. The club was a finalist at the Region I Championship (B13 Championship) last summer, where it fell short 4-1 in the final to the Bethesda SC Lions. They also won the OBGC Capital Cup Labor Day Tournament (B14 Premier), squeezing by the Montgomery SC Falcons 2-1 in the final. No. 9 SOLAR 98B |
As the Mavericks prepare to defend their NBA title and the Rangers attempt to capture a third consecutive American League pennant, another Dallas team our No. 9 Solar 98B has plans to steal some of the spotlight. The Texas team blew through the 2011 DTSC Fall Festival in November, going 4-1-0 with an 11-1 goal differential, to capture the crown. Solar soundly beat the AYSES 98 Boys Gold 5-0 in the championship match. The defending North Texas State Cup (B13) champions, Solar also placed second in the Texas Pre-Academy League and recently notched a 3-0 win over Real Madrid AC 98B in the Fall 2011/Spring 2012 CCSAI Classic League. No. 8 JUVENTUS SC HEAT |
The first of a trio of teams from the soccer hotbed of Northern California arrives at No. 8, the Juventus SC Heat. The Heat had a magnificent run at the 2012 Northern California Spring Showcase (B14 Premier) tournament, winning three games with one draw and beating the No. 6 PAC San Jose 97 Indios 4-2 in the final. The team also edged the tough Stockton YSA Storm Premier 98 3-0 earlier in the event. The Redwood City squad finished first in the Fall Season of the NorCal RAL (NPL Divison) League (B14 State Premier 1), beating the Ballistic United BUSC 98 Premier in its final match. The team also reached the semi-finals of the Sporting Invitation 2011 (B14) last summer, recording a 4-1 win over Mustang SC Barcelona along the way. No. 7 BETHESDA SC LIONS |
The Bethesda SC Lions are a team that plays best when it matters most. The Maryland team proved that last year at the Region I Championship (B13 Championship), where it recorded a huge 4-1 win over the No. 10 Arlington Impact Red in the championship match. The team also captured the Maryland State Cup 2011 (B13), routing the Baltimore SC Premier 5-1 in the final. Recently the squad was a finalist at the Bethesda Thanksgiving Tournament (B14 ASL1) and reached the quarterfinals of the 2012 Jefferson Cup Boys Showcase (B14 ASL Brackets), notching a 6-0 over Beach FC Red in the process. No. 6 PAC SAN JOSE 97 INDIOS |
Silicon Valley has had its fair share of success stories over the years and our No. 6 team, the PAC San Jose 97 Indios, are no exception. The club burst onto our rankings on the strength of a win at the 13th Annual Diablo Cup (B14 Mountain) event in March. The Indios went 3-0, outscoring their opponents 7-1, to take the crown. They bested Fresno Monarch Brasil 3-0 in the decisive match. Last summer, the team took the Nike Mustang Stampede (B14 Premier) title with a huge 6-5 win over the No. 8 Juventus SC Heat in the final. While the squad did fall short in the final to the Heat at the 2012 Northern California Spring Showcase (B14 Premier), it notched a massive 4-2 win over the No. 2 Stockton Monarcas FC Aztec Warriors earlier in the tournament.
