The team started off its fall campaign with a 3-0 win over Challenge SC 98 ECNL in the Elite Clubs National League 2011/2012 (G14 Texas Conference), and hopes to repeat its dominance in North Texas this winter. Cracking our list at No. 9 is one of the most accomplished teams from Illinois, the Eclipse Select Tri Cities 97/98. The Libertyville squad reached the finals of the Illinois State Championship (G13) last spring, only to lose to the No. 3 Eclipse Select North Black 97/98. The team went 2-1-1, losing in the finals of the FC Stars Cup 2011 (G14 Premier) this fall to the FC Stars of Massachusetts. Eclipse also had a runners-up finish at this spring's Eclipse Select Spring Classic (G13 Cup), where it again fell just short to its nemesis Eclipse Select North Black 97/98. Coached by Mike Nesci, the team includes Rachel Ehrman, Stephanie Rodriguez, Foster Ignoffo, Mikaela Niermann, Lauren Muzzalupo, Autumn Maraviglia, Tiffany Clark, Kelly Jezior, Taylor Rohm, Dana O'Boye, Corinne Hildebrandt, Alissa Gorzak, Grace Anderson, Alison Fullreide and Madison Navarro. |
Arriving at No. 8 is a team that thrives in high altitude, Real Colorado National 97/98 ENCL. The Highlands Ranch team is off to a fast start this fall, posting a 6-1-0 in the 2011/2012 CYS Advanced League (G14 Mountain West Conference) so far. The team notched a 3-0 win over the Colorado Rush Nike 2064 ECNL and a 1-0 victory over Pride SC Predators 98 in league early in the season. The club also reached the finals of the Colorado Storm Classic this summer against 15 and under competition, losing 2-1 in the final to the Colorado Storm 97 COPA ECNL. Crashing the rankings at No. 7 is the top team in Northern California, the Santa Rosa United Freeze. The Freeze tore up the competition at the Placer United Prestige Cup (G14 Super) tournament, going 4-0 with a 16-3 goal differential to capture that title. Santa Rosa beat the hosts, the Placer United Elite 98G, 2-1 in the championship match. The team won the Davis Legacy College Showcase (G14 Premier) event this summer as well, beating the Davis Legacy SC Impact 3-0 in the final. Most impressively, the Freeze are defending California North State Cup 2011 (G13) champions, having won the title last January. Led by Trisha Ziemer, the team includes Maria Sosa-Alfaro, Taylor Ziemer, Mayaka Barton, Valerie Perez, Yvette Perez, Chloe Colbert, Isabelle Lilly, Samantha Zepponi, Madison Gonzalez, Brianne Parsons, Savannah Stoughton, Alison King, Amara Ortiz, Megan Moore, Bria VarnBuhler, Faith Deas, Brooke Dunbar, Sydney Rickert and Claire Howard. |
The California Dreaming theme continues at No. 6 as Arsenal FC earns a spot on our rankings. The Alta Loma squad won the prestigious Region IV Championship (G13) this spring and have been one of the scariest teams in the country this past year. Arsenal went 2-1-1 over the holidays to reach the quarterfinals of the Surf Thanksgiving Tournament 2011 (G14 Gold), notching a 3-0 win over the Placer United Elite 98G along the way. The team had a massive tournament win at the West Coast Futbol Classic (G14 Flight 1) in August, going 5-0 and shutting out its opponents 17-0 over the course of the event.
