(Youth1 Softball) â âWe saw some great competition this weekend in Carrollton,â said MOJO Outlawsâ coach Nathan Farrow. âOur girls played great defense when they were down and gave our bats a chance to get us the runs we needed. We are pleased with the hard work they are putting in week after week.â
Farrowâs Outlaws 04 picked up their 5th tournament win in a row, improving their overall record to 28-0 on the season.
The squadâs latest victory came over the weekend in Carrollton, Georgia, at the USFA Carrolton Classic. MOJO went 6-0 on the weekend with huge wins over some of the top-ranked teams in USFA sanctioned play.
MOJO kicked off pool play with a 16-3 victory against Georgia Thunder. Emma Langston blasted a three-run homerun, while Brynley Oliver knocked in a two-run triple. Langston and Oliver combined for seven RBIâs on four hits. Addison Needham and Caydra Parker also came up with RBI base hits en route to the teamâs victory.
In a nail-biting second game against the top-ranked Birmingham Thunderbolts, the squad edged out the Thunderbolts, 9-8, after battling back from a 5-0 deficit in the 1st inning. With the squad down, 8-7, in the 4th, Kiya Ferrell record a base hit to the outfield to score Blair Cherry for the tying run. Aspen Calloway recorded the game-winning hit, bringing in Ferrell for the victory. Other highlights included Allie Farrow picking up a triple and two RBIâs, and Ferrell going 3-3 at the plate.
On Sunday, they kicked off with a rematch against the Thunderbolts, which resulted in a 5-2 MOJO victory. Highlights included Carrigan Pitts coming up with a huge diving catch in the outfield to help MOJO hang on for the win.
Games four and five were MOJO blowouts, with a 20-7 win against Georgia Select, and a 20-1 win against West Cobb Xplosion.
The championship game came down to MOJO taking on Easton Elite Heat 04, where they ultimately picked up a 16-1 championship win. Raven Jones came up with a two-run RBI double, while additional RBI hits came from Langston, Ferrell, Calloway, Farrow, Pitts, Kyndal Chenault, and Cherry. Jones recorded two RBIâs on three hits.
This championship roster is comprised of Addison Needham, Allie Farrow, Aspen Calloway, Blair Cherry, Brynley Oliver, Carrigan Pitts, Caydra Parker, Emma Langston, Kiya Ferrell, Kyndal Chenault, and Raven Jones.
