Elite Softball is Back in the Swing


(Youth1 Softball) – Teams across the country continue to get back into the swing of things this weekend, and many will be looking to capture their first, 1st place title of the 2013 spring season. We’re bringing you a sneak peak of what to expect this weekend in fast-pitch tournament action, and be sure to check back on Monday for all of the tournament recaps.


March Warm-Up (Conyers, Georgia)


georgia pride logoThis weekend, the 12U girls of USSSA GA Pride (Conyers, Georgia) will be looking for a 1st place finish, after finishing 2nd last weekend at the USSSA GA Pride tournament, where the team produced an impressive 63 run, averaging seven per game, and allowing just 26 against.  The team, who is 7-2 overall, should be a tough opponent and are expected to go far in tournament play.

USSSA GA Pride is comprised of:  Neely Bradford, Alannah Browne, Georgia Edwards, Madison Little, Madison Kinard, Darbi Lively, Bailey Pines, Yuntasia Thomas, Claire Williams, and Jessica Womble.


St. Patty’s Day Qualifier (Marietta/Powder Springs, Georgia)


Powder Springs, Georgia will be thriving this weekend with fast-pitch action as teams amongst the 14UA, 14UB, 12UA, 12UB, and 10UA divisions play at Lost Mountain Park.  Of those, five teams should fare well based on past results.

Looking to get things done in the 14UA division, are the girls of Georgia Shakedown 99 (Buford, Georgia), who currently sit at 10-4 on the season.  This World Series qualified team picked up a 1st place finish over the fall, and will be looking for the same results this weekend.

Georgia Shakedown 99 is comprised of:  Aaliyah Bryant, Courtney Harris, Amelia Herring, Katrina Herring, Mikaela Lee, Makenna Mellott, Libba Muzi, Courtney Roley, Brooke Simmons, Caitlin Swanson, Kaitlyn Worley, and Chloe Zoeller.

atlanta flames puckett 14uThe Atlanta Flames-Puckett (Atlanta, Georgia) are looking to take home the 1st place hardware in the 14UB division.  The Flames, also World Series qualified, boast an 1196 power rating and a 1st place finish earlier in the fall season. The Team will be looking to capitalize on their previous success.  They sit at 7-3 overall in USSSA tournament play.

Atlanta Flames – Puckett’s 2013 roster includes:  Kaitlyn Andrin, Allison Cobb, Emma Edmondson, Abby Fenbert, Allsion Greenberg, Gabby Hernandez, Allie Puckett, Kalyn Sinisgalli, Mia Whitney, and Brittany Whitstine.

Cherokee Pride 12U-Tunon (Woodstock, Georgia) is 7-4 overall and on a mission to take care of business in the 12UA division of play.  Managed by Jose Tunon, Pride will be taking on the 2001 Worth Cobras, Georgia Force Mathis, Alpharetta Fire ‘00, and West Cobb Xplosion 2001. The team most recently finished 5th at the ICE Breaker Classic earlier this month, and are looking for a championship finish.

Cherokee Pride 12U is comprised of:  Addison Bralick, Jordan Childress, Avery Eidson, Laney Foust, Taylor Henson, Anna Hutchinson, Kati Mills, Destiny Parker, Brianna Stubbs, Sofia Tunon, Ryanne White, and Brooke Wiggins.

georgia titans 00 12uAlso looking for the same championship finish in the 12UB division, are the girls of Georgia Titans 00 (Marietta, Georgia), who are currently 11-3 overall in tournament play.  The team boasts an 1181 power rating, and is already 2013 World Series qualified.  The team picked up a championship victory during fall, and are looking for the same results this weekend.

The Georgia Titans 00 are comprised of:  Allison Andriano, Karly Donaldson, Elana Edusei, Emily Elzey, Morgan Green, Leighton Howard, Adara Hyatt, Sicily Kolbeck, Kylie Marquez, Gabi Merced, and Trinity Pizzuti.

Wrapping things up in the 10UA division are the girls of the North Gwinnett Lady Raiders (Shawnee, Georgia). The team is currently 7-3 overall, already World Series qualified, and picked up a 1st place finish during the fall that they hope to capitalize on this weekend.

The North Gwinnett Lady Raiders 2013 championship roster includes:  Abigail Allen, Nicole Lajara, Meaghan Lewis, Mackenzie McKnight, Haley McNail, Kaytlyn Moore, Hannah Nolan, Abbi Perkins, Tessa Rider, Madison Taylor, and Sara Viti.


USSSA National Qualifier (Lafayette, Indiana)


A weekend full of fast-pitch excitement is coming to the Legacy Sports Club, as 20 teams amongst the 14U, 12U, and 10U divisions look to capture the championship hardware in the National Qualifying tournament.

The NWI White Sox 2001 (Schererville, Indiana) will be looking to get the job done in the 14U division, who are 5-4 with an 851-power rating.  The team placed 5th back in January at a National Qualifying tournament, and is hungry for some championship bragging rights.

The NWI White Sox 2001 squad is comprised of:  Jaidyn Brown, Maggie Etzler, Claire Karberg, Summer Kohler, Margaret Landis, Christina Lorenzatti, Hanna Mihalic, Nichole Padilla, Olivia Peterson, Jenna Towle, Alexis Voss, and Ariana Zapata.

Ambush Fastpitch (Lebanon, Indiana) is looking to take home the 1st place hardware in the 12U division.  They boast a 1010-power rating, and are 3-1, after a 2nd place finish at the USSSA National Qualifier back in January.  Ambush should fare well in tournament play, and should be looking to use that fire to fuel their performance efforts this weekend.

Ambush Fastpitch’s 2013 roster includes:  Kaitlyn Blevens, Peyton Dewitt, Katie McDuffie, Alayna Raby, Payton Ray, Payge Redman, Payten Redman, Abigail Wirey, Hannah Wirey, and Madison Wirey.


USSSA Umpires Free Friendly (Port Reading, New Jersey)


Fastpitch tournament action is finally getting back underway in the tri-state area, as six 12U teams will take the fields at Boynton Park in hopes of getting an early season 1st place finish under their belts.  Of those competing, two squads look promising to get into the championship game, and should fare well in tournament play.

team walkoff 12ubTeam Walkoff 12U Blue is one squad that always puts on an overall solid performance, and is consistent in their success season to season. During the fall the girls went 14-1 in tournament play, winning all three fall tournaments, and beating team from New York, New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania. The defense has only gives up an average of 1.3 runs per game, and the team looks to continue that success this season.

The girls of Team Walkoff 12U Blue include:  Gabrielle Barranger, Meghan Davis, Analisa Groble, Kirstyn Herman, Diana Parker, Kayla Posten, Jordyn Price, Camryn Rachuba, Theresa Reed, Amelia Sims, and Rachel Zingerman.

Looking to give Team Walkoff 12U Blue a run for their money, are the girls of the Diamond Dolls 12U Purple (Bronx, New York), who sit at an even 6-6 split on the season. The team boasts a 954 power rating, and performed well during the fall season.

Diamond Dolls 12U Purple is comprised of:  Danielle Corsa, Tamara Day, Giuliana Fogliano, Ashley Graham, Rhianna Iglesias, Jane McCauley, Lindsay McConway, Cameryn Melendez, Lila Mogavero, Janiece Robles, Josie Steinberg, and Olivia Yorizzo.


Lucky Charmers (Owasso, Oklahoma)


12 teams amongst the 12U division will be competing at the Owasso Sports Park, in the Lucky Charmers tournament this weekend.  Of them, one team in particular is expecting big results.

Oklahoma Bedlam 01 (Oologah, Oklahoma) boasts a 16-8 USSSA overall tournament record, and 885-power rating.  The team put on an impressive performance in their most recent outing at the TGSF Softball 365 tournament last weekend, going 3-0-2 in play.  The team looks to capitalize on last week’s performance, and take home the 1st place hardware this weekend.

Oklahoma Bedlam 01 is comprised of:  Janie Adams, Morgen Bottoms, Lindsey Edwards, Madison Neighbors, Jaeden Rosenquist, Kaleigh Schumacher, Payton Scott, Kylee Thompson, and Keelie Welden.
