3rd Grade Red uses potent rushing attack to secure a 20-0 victory over White

On a sweltering Father's Day at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio the Diamond Sports Group hosted their 3rd set of D1 Savage games of the spring/summer. This comes on the heels of a successful set of games on Memorial Day weekend in Virginia Beach, VA. This event served as the third of 4 events in the D1 Savage Series, with one more to be held in Dallas, TX on July 6-8.

Athletes from grades 3rd-8th were in attendance, totaling in 5 games for the day. Each grade (excluding 7/8th grades) group was split into two teams, the White squad and the Red squad.

The third graders played the first game of the day at 9 A.M. Team Red started with the ball and was running it well, mixing up carries with multiple backs. Red look poised to score on their opening drive but could not convert in the red zone wasting an early opportunity.

Fortunately for them Team White did not do much on offense giving them the ball right back. With their second opportunity Arieus Finley Jr. shed multiple defenders running up the middle on his way to a 50-yard touchdown run, Team Red took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter.

Both defenses would tighten up not allowing another point until late in the second half. Team Red continued to run the ball effectively as Juiez Washington’s big run set up Finley Jr’s second touchdown of the game, Team Red took a 13-0 lead putting the pressure on Team White’s offense.

White struggled on offense all afternoon, mainly because of the discipline and hustle of Team Red’s defense, they could not convert on any of their opportunities and put their defense in a tough situation once again.

Team Red was able to seal the deal with a Marlon Carino sweep 10-yards out for a touchdown giving them a 20-0 victory and the first win for Team Red on the day.
