This year's Elite101 Rankings is brimming with talent at every position on the football field. The skill positions in the 2024 class, such as Running Back and Wide Receiver, are among the most talented 8th grade athletes we at Youth1 have seen. From do-it-all athletes to dynamic game-changers, the 2024 class is a supremely talented group.
Among the elite playmakers from the 2024 class is Demarion Jenkins, who came in at #16 on our Elite101 rankings.
"My coach told me my ranking and my mom was picking me up from practice. I opened the car door and was like mom I was ranked #16 in the nation. I was excited," Jenkins told Youth1.com of how he found out about his ranking.
"I was kind of surprised, but more happy," he added.
Jenkins is one of the best overall athletes in the 2024 class. He's dynamic with the ball in his hands. He's the type of athlete that stands out immediately no matter who else is on the field.
On Youth1's Elite101, we have Jenkins listed as an "ATH" because of his impact made at a variety of positions on the field. His ability to make plays from both the Running Back and Wide Receiver spots, makes him a special talent. He shines in the open field, where he can use his speed and shiftiness to evade defenders. He has perhaps the quickest burst of speed in his class. He can go from 0-100, real quick.
Jenkins says that this achievement will only motivate him to strive for more.
"I’m only 14 and being ranked as one of the best in my class that’s a lot of motivation for me. I’m only going to get better from here," Jenkins said.
"It just shows that my hard work and dedication is paying off. I’m still young so I have a long ways to go," he added.
The Orlando, FL native is a rising star that loves leaving it all on the field for his team.
"My favorite part is working as a team with my brothers and winning," Jenkins said.
"I play RB/CB. I enjoy making touchdowns and making those big stops," he added.
With his tantalizing talent it's no surprise that Demarion Jenkins is viewed as an elite athlete. Standing at 5'7" 150 lbs., Jenkins is extremely fast, quick, and explosive. He doesn't need a lot of space to make a big play.
"My speed," he said when asked of his strengths. "I’m pretty quick," he added with a chuckle.
Jenkins was recently selected to play in the Under Armour Next All-American game. This annual game hosts the absolute elite talents from the 8th grade class. Being named to the UA Next game speaks to the level of talent that Jenkins possesses.
Jenkins is making major strides both on the field and off of it.
"I’ve made some big plays guarding some of the best players of other teams being that I’m the youngest, I have made some huge stops," Jenkins said when asked about his recent successes.
"I also use to attend another middle school and then my mom and dad moved me to Orlando Christian Prep, and I feel was the best decision because I’m doing much better academically than I was before," he added.
2024 ATH Demarion Jenkins has solidified himself as one of the elite athletes in the 8th grade. He's earned that respect through his talent and hard work. He's not only one of Florida's premier youth athletes, but also one of the nation's rising stars.
Being ranked #16 on Youth1's Elite101 Rankings shows that Jenkins dedication to the game of football is being noticed on a national level. It's something his late Father and family can really be proud of.
"I’m a humble kid, I work hard. I know I’m in 8th grade, but I try to put in work harder because I am the underdog," Jenkins told Youth1.com.
"My Dad passed so I try to dedicate what I do on the field for him. My Mom and Stepdad as well I do what I do for them too, and my little sisters."
