2022’s Tyler Brown is one of the grittiest ballers in the Florida Panhandle

Tyler Brown is one of the best players from the Sneads, FL area in the Class of 2022.

The 5-foot-11, 160-pound Brown, who attends Sneads High School, is a dynamic player that works as a guard.

No matter the opponent, every game Brown is determined to give it his all.

Brown is going all out.

The motor is always at full throttle whenever Brown steps between the lines.

“My mindset at guard is stay focused, give the ball to my teammates, or take it to the hoop,” Brown said. “I want the other team to have to really work hard for everything they get when I’m on the court.”

Brown has great passion and energy whenever he’s on the hardwood. Brown tells why he enjoys the game of basketball so much.

“What I love the most about playing is the adrenaline rush and excitement,” Brown said. “It’s a nonstop moving game and the pace of the game is just fast.”

Brown has learned many valuable lessons from playing basketball that he applies to his everyday life.

The main one is applying perspective to all situations.

“Playing has taught me that there are going to be obstacles in your way and you just have to overcome those obstacles,” Brown said. “You can do anything you set your mind to.”

Brown recalls his favorite basketball memory.

“My favorite memory would probably be scoring 26 points in middle school because it’s the most I've ever scored. I felt like I couldn’t miss,” Brown said. “It’s a special moment I’ll always cherish.”

Patrick Jones has coached Brown for one year with the JV Sneads squad.

Jones explains the best parts of Brown’s game.

“Tyler is a point guard and shooting guard. As the point guard Tyler has great driving ability and passing skills. As a guard, Tyler has a decent mid range game. Understands what is given to him,” Jones said. “Tyler is very aggressive and that is something that can't be taught. He also has a passing game that is beyond his years.”

Brown takes his role as one of the leaders on the team very seriously. Brown makes sure he’s a daily positive influence on his peers.

“I try to be a good teammate by just giving the ball to my teammates and getting them involved. I try to set a good example for them to follow,” Brown said. “The best advice I give is to stay focused and keep grinding.”

Jones adds that Brown is one of those consummate teammates that every squad needs to be successful.

“Tyler commands the offense on the court and expects perfection from his teammates at all times,” Jones said. “That kind of attitude has a contagious effect on the rest of his teammates to follow suit.”

Brown is appreciative of having amazing male role models that are supportive.

“My coaches have taught me how to be a better player and person. They have taught me to stay motivated and to keep grinding. Stay mentally focused the whole game,” Brown said. “They tell me to keep working and that I can achieve anything that I put my mind to.”

Jones is an advocate of Brown’s capabilities.

“Tyler has made many clutch baskets with his defensive work leading to easy baskets. He also has closed out several games with his driving ability and aggression,” Jones said. “We wouldn’t have had the type of success we did without his efforts.”

In addition to making clutch plays, Brown also has a high level of basketball IQ as well.

Brown has excellent basketball awareness that puts him in position to thrive.

“He understands where the defense is weak and does his best to take advantage of that. He also feeds the mismatch,” Jones said. “He’s a very intelligent basketball player that exploits what the opponent is giving him.”

Brown is on the grind to perfect and hone his craft in any way possible.

“Tyler is always working hard and pushing his teammates to be the best they can,” Jones said. “Tyler has been working on fixing his shooting form more and getting repetition in for his three point shot.”

Jones explains why he compares Brown to this NBA star.

“I compare Tyler to Donovan Mitchell,” Jones said. “He has the ability to take it to the hoop every play and fears no one in the lane. He also can hit the shot from three when needed.”

Brown patterns his mentality after the Utah Jazz standout.

“Donovan Mitchell is strong to the hoop and has a decent shot and dribble moves and sets up his teammates,” Brown said. “That’s the way I try to play the game when I’m on the court.”

Brown is constantly striving for greatness in everything that he does.

“My goal is to better myself and others in all aspects of life and ball,” Brown said. “I want my family to take pride in everything that I do as a player and person.”

Brown explains his collegiate aspirations.

“I want to play at UCLA,” Banks said. “They have a great basketball culture there and it’s just a great school overall. It would be cool to play on the West Coast.”

Brown lists math as his favorite subject in school.

“It comes naturally to me and I’m really good at it,” Brown said.

Jones outlines the areas of improvement that will take Brown to the next level.

“We are working with Tyler on his three-point shot,” Jones said. “Trying to get him more confident in knocking that shot down when the lane is clogged up.”

Jones believes the sky is the limit as long as Brown continues to stay hungry.

“Tyler is a three-sport athlete that can play at the next level in all three,” Jones said. “Once he decides what sport he wants to pursue in college, he will have many chances to better himself and his education. He is a leader on the court and a joy for a coach. His drive to win and perfect his craft is unmatched.”
