Kareem Rozier is a 13-year old point guard from Detroit, Michigan. Rozier is currently playing is AAU ball for Bates Fundamentals, in his latest season playing for Bates he averaged 20 points, 10 assists and 6 rebounds per game.
Rozier is the true definition of a point guard; he sees the floor very well and is always looking to get teammates in rhythm shots. Despite being just 5’8, Rozier can also get to the rim and finish amongst the bigs. Rozier takes pride in being a complete player and not having any weaknesses in his game.
“My style of play is to get everyone involved, to make plays in every aspect of the game, not just on offense but defensively as well.” Said Rozier. “I try to model my game after Kryie Irving offensively while at the same time playing with Magic Johnson’s court vision and basketball IQ. On defense I try and play like Gary Payton, totally shutting down the production of the opposing team’s point guard.”
Rozier is using the summer to compete against the best competition at the best tournaments around the country in an effort to get ready for high school. His middle school achievements are impressive, he was named to the 2016 Nike Grass Roots All Tournament Team and was named a top five player at the Buckeye Prep Showcase in back-to-back years.
Rozier is still deciding where he will play his high school ball and would like to play at any division I school when he gets to college. He is well aware that he has plenty of time ahead of him to make these decisions, right now his only focus is getting better over the summer.
