2021’s Cameron Crawford is one of the most decorated ballers in Alabama

Cameron Crawford is one of the best players from the Hoover, AL area in the Class of 2021.

The 6-foot-4, 170-pound Crawford, who attends Spain Park High School, is a dynamic player that works as a combo guard.

Crawford has earned plenty of recognition during his career, such as: Jag Classic All-Tournament selection, Oak Mountain Invitational tournament selection, two-time All Area selection, two-time All-County selection, Over The Mountain Journal selection, Regional Tournament team selection, Elite 100 two-time selection, 7A All-State team selection.

Crawford is humbled by the accolades.

“The awards and recognition are really cool to think about and say that I have accomplished, but it just shows that the work I’ve put in all my life is paying off,” Crawford said. “Competing in the All-Star games and camps is really a fun experience. You are playing with the best players in your area and I couldn’t ask for anything better than that.”

No matter the opponent, every game Crawford is determined to give it his all.

Crawford is going all out.

The motor is always at full throttle whenever Crawford steps between the lines.

“Being that I play multiple positions, my focus is just to do whatever my role calls for,” Crawford said. “If I’m the point guard, I have to facilitate. If I’m the shooting guard, I need to attack. If I'm a forward, I rebound and play defense.”

Crawford has great passion and energy whenever he’s on the hardwood. Crawford tells why he enjoys the game of basketball so much.

“I love being around my teammates,” Crawford said. “That’s easily what I love the most.”

Crawford has learned many valuable lessons from playing basketball that he applies to his everyday life.

“Playing basketball has taught me life lessons that can be applied in every area of my life,” Crawford said.

Crawford shares his favorite memory of playing basketball.

“My favorite memories from basketball are the long rides, team trips, and hanging out in the hotel,” Crawford said. “My favorite play would be my buzzer-beater against Hewitt-Trussville.”

Crawford takes his role as one of the leaders on the team very seriously. Crawford makes sure he’s a daily positive influence on his peers.

“I demonstrate being a good teammate by not being selfish, playing my role, encouraging younger guys, and just being a vocal player on the team,” Crawford said. “The best advice I give is to just move on to the next play. There's nothing you can do about the past. Whether it’s a turnover or a made shot, there is no use in thinking about it once it's over.”

Crawford is appreciative of having amazing male role models that are supportive.

“Life goes on past basketball, so one day your career will be over and I’ve learned I have to be a man after it’s all said and done,” Crawford said. “I have taken a lot of things I’ve learned in basketball and put it into my daily life and who I am as a person.”

Crawford patterns his mentality after this legend.

“I look up to Lebron James,” Crawford said. “He is a great player, great person, great father, great husband, great leader and everything.”

Crawford lists history as his favorite subject in school.

“I love learning about the past,” Crawford said.

Crawford explains his collegiate aspirations.

“I want to go to Duke,” Crawford said. “The culture Coach K has created is amazing.”

Crawford is striving for greatness in all that he does.

“My goals are to be Mr. Basketball, Gatorade Player of the Year, and just be the best person and player I can be,” Crawford said.
