Mother’s Day Classic brings a family affair to Diamond Nation

Diamond Nation’s annual Mother’s Day Classic brings together 66 baseball teams in three age groups in a true baseball weekend for the whole family.

The Y1ACT will also be on site testing athlete's strength, speed, and baseball skills, like bat speed and pitching velocity.

Along with the individual 10U, 12U and 14U tournaments that will be contested Friday-through-Sunday, Youth1 will conduct a Basic Skills Assessment program on site. As usual for the spring season, the tournament begins with 6:30 p.m. games on Friday and concludes with, in this case, the three championship games on Sunday night.

The 10U Mother’s Day Classic opens with a pair of 8 a.m. games on Saturday pitting Pandolfini Sports Academies vs. Sandlot Baseball Academies (Field 1A) and West Seneca Warriors vs. the Diamond Jacks Super 10U squad (Field 4B).

The two-day, 12-team 10U tournament comes to a crescendo with a playoff game pitting the Nos. 2 and 3 seeds at 4:30 on Sunday. That winner squares off with the No. 1 seed in the championship game at 6:30 p.m.. Both playoff games are on Field 1A.

The 12U Mother’s Day Classic begins with two games at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Diamond Jacks Gold 12U faces the South Jersey Young Guns on Field 2 and Team X meets Hustle Baseball Academy on Field 6.

The three-day, 26-team, double-bracket 12U tournament winds down to the playoffs on late Sunday afternoon. The Blue Bracket semifinals and the Red Bracket playoff game between the Nos. 2 and 3 seeds are set for 4:30 p.m. The 12U Blue Bracket final will be on Field 2 at 6:30 p.m. The 12U Red Bracket championship game is set for Field 6, also at 6:30 p.m.

The 14U Mother’s Day Classic tournament gets under way with a trio of games at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Diamond Jacks Gold 14U plays the Ewing/Hopewell Blue Dogs on Field 3, the Renegades tangle with Sportika Gallagher Select on Field 5 and Hustle Baseball Academy takes on a tough customer in Wladyka National around the corner at Jack Cust Baseball Academy.

The three-day, 28-team, double-bracket 14U tournament gets its Gold and Silver playoff brackets fired up at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday when the Gold semifinals and the Silver game featuring the Nos. 2 and 3 seeds begin. The 14U Gold Bracket championship is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Field 3. The 14U Silver Bracket final will be contested at 6:30 p.m. on Field 4.
