9th Annual Tourney Ties Europe and Eastern Pennsylvania
Horsham, PA (Youth1) - The 9th annual Ukrainian Nationals Invitational will begin on May 28th at the Ukrainian American Sport Center. The tournament will include over 170 teams from multiple states, including Delaware, Connecticut, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, and more.
First taking the field in 1950, Ukrainian Nationals Inc. is a non-profit organization that develops and promotes not only their rich European community, but also the rich soccer history in Eastern Pennsylvania.
The Ukrainian Nationals, also known as "Tryzub," was the first soccer team to have home games televised and played in the first indoor regulation soccer game, held in Conventional Hall, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. After great success while playing in the German American League of New York, Tryzub centered its interest on the development and cultivation of a youth program.
In 1983, Ukrainian Nationals Inc. transformed a stretch of 38-acre farmland to a youth soccer paradise. The venue contains six fields (with lighting), a clubhouse and a picnic grove. Both genders ranging from the brackets "under 8" and "under 19" first took the tournament's field on Memorial Day weekend in 2002. After resounding success, the tournament is still booming, now about to commence its 9th annual tournament.
The tournament will kick off Saturday night, May 28th, with live entertainment and food in the cozy picnic grove. The Ukranian American Sports Center is located on Lower State Road, between County Line Road and Limekiln Pike in Horsham, PA.
