Team: Grant Baseball Academy, Team Phenom

Emilio Vasquez’ recent achievements in the past several years has nominated him as more than worthy of the Youthee honors. For the Grant Baseball 13U, Emilio Vasquez is the ace of the staff, plays shortstop and commanding the infield. For the season, he put together a .485 batting average, 11 homeruns, 10 triples, 15 doubles, and 25 stolen bases. As a pitcher, Emilio went 15-0 with an ERA of 0.25. He threw seven one-hitters, two no-hitters, thirteen shutouts, and featured an 84 mph fastball. Vasquez won tournament MVP four times in the year, including the 12U Elite 32 honors where he played for Team Phenom. He was the winning pitcher in five major tournaments, which included the Elite 32, Cooperstown Dreams, and the TBS Nationals where he went 3-0 with a 0.00 ERA. Emilio Vasquez won the 2012 honors of the Gotem Baseball Player of the Year as well as the Travel Ball Select Player of the Year. Coach Eddie Abram of the Grant Baseball Academy 13U who has mentored major league players like C.C. Sabathia says he has never coached a player like Emilio,

“God has really blessed him with tremendous ability and an arm. He has physical and mental toughness, he is grounded, extremely humble and coachable, and a total team player”. –Coach Eddie Abrams
