No. 5 Beachside of Connecticut

The defending Region I champions (B12), Beachside of Connecticut, have had a solid spring season so far and have done more than enough to claim our No. 5 slot. The Wilton squad, coached by Mark Alves, reached the semifinals of both the MAPS Cup 2011 (B13 B MAPS Cup) and the Manhattan Soccer Kickoff Classic 2012 (B13 Platinum) tournaments, scoring a 1-0 win over No. 4 Everton America CT at the latter event before losing 3-1 to No. 3 NYSC 98-99.

No. 4 Everton America CT

The second consecutive Connecticut team in our top five is Everton America CT, which has a pair of tournament titles this season. In March, the squad won the Manhattan Soccer Kickoff Classic 2012 (B13 Platinum) trophy, going 2-1-1 at that event and beating World Class FC 98 Tambi 5-1 in the decider. Everton also had a big 2-0 win over No. 3 NYSC 98-99 in the semifinal. In November the team, led by Alex Cunliffe, won the MAPS Cup 2011 (B13 B EDP Cup) tournament, winning three games (plus one draw), while outscoring its opponents 15-4.

No. 3 NYSC 98-99

If you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere, as our No. 3 NYSC 98-99 has consistently proven this season. The team claimed the MAPS Cup 2011 (B13 B MAPS Cup) title in the fall with a massive 1-0 championship win over the No. 1 SDFC Rangers. The team is also the defending New York East State Cup 2011 (B12 Flight) champs and reached the semifinals of the Manhattan Soccer Kickoff Classic 2012 (B13 Platinum) event in March.

Coached by Mark Heffernan, the roster consists of Noah Lawrence, Jackson Corrigan, Danny Cannon, Mark Preschern, Anthony Portale, Matthew Toal, Kristian Shkreli, Abi Galligan, Jack Reyna, Jack Beer, Tommy Langkafel, Christian Geddes, Fernando Doctors, David Noel, Enzo Sangiacomo, Fazl Shaikh, Dante Polvara, Michael Branca and Corey Levine.

No. 2 West Chester United SC Predators 98

The most dominant team in eastern Pennsylvania is a hair short of topping our rankings mountain as the West Chester United SC Predators 98 come in at No. 2. The squad, coached by Mark Thomas, started off the spring strong with a win at the 2012 Jefferson Cup Boys Showcase (B13 Championship) event. The Predators went 3-1 at that tourney and stopped the Charlotte United FC 98 Gold 1-0 in the title game. The team also won the EDP Fall 2011 (B13 B EDP First) league, which included a 1-0 victory over No. 5 Beachside of Connecticut.

No. 1 SDFC Rangers

sdfc-logo-smallThe New Jersey State Cup 2012 (B13 Flight) champions are on a roll and nobody could stop the SDFC Rangers from claiming the No. 1 spot in Region I. The team had a monster fall, winning the state title, the YMS Columbus Cup (B13 Championship), and the EDP Spring 2012 (B13 B EDP First Division North) league. In late March, the Rangers topped No. 5 Beachside of Connecticut 2-0 in EDP play.

Guided by Kieran Patrick, the team includes Henry Kraham, Ethan Koehler, Samuel Givens, Benjamin Neyer, Max Maidenberg, Donald Nicol II, Ervin Gjeli, Mason Toye, Matthew Howlett, Solan Myles, Charlie Williams, Nour Ellisy, Joel Bacha, Kevin O’Toole, Jared Mitchell-Brusco and Quinn Baity.
